BEST PRACTICES

Organize a committee to be in charge of organizing your trip to PBLI. The committee should be tasked with three major responsibilities:

  1. Registration with the Heritage Center
Anyone who wishes, including pledges, may attend the PBLI. Ensure that your chapter receives the most inexpensive registration rate by registering early. Have one person from the committee organize your registration list. This person should register everyone with the Heritage Center in a timely manner. He/she should also collect the registration fee and make the payment to the Heritage Center. By having one person organize the registrations at the chapter level it helps to ensure the chapter's registration list is correct.
  2. Travel and Accommodations
Attendees must make their own hotel accommodations and travel arrangements for the PBLI. Have one person research travel options (driving, charter bus rental, flights) and monitor these options to find the best price. Have a second person organize the rooming list for the group and make the hotel reservations.
  3. Fundraising
Ensure that each individual that wants to go to PBLI can afford it by raising money to put into a travel fund for your chapter. Set aside part of your chapter's income in this fund and distribute it accordingly. Many student government associations and schools of business provide funds for students to attend educational workshops. These funds are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Petition these groups early to ensure a chance at additional funding.
